About the Role
We are seeking a medical director to play a critical role in supervising and supporting our team of nurse practitioners. The successful candidate will own the development and implementation of clinical policies and protocols, and collaborate closely with our population health team to ensure excellent outcomes for underserved communities.
This is a fully remote position with opportunities for in-person engagement. The role requires travel to represent us at conferences and with other partners and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise our team of nurse practitioners and physicians, providing clinical oversight and mentorship to drive high-quality patient care.
- Ensure we achieve our value-based cost-of-care and HEDIS targets by developing and executing new, evidence-based clinical protocols and policies in partnership with our population health team.
- Serve as a key clinical leader, bridging clinical expertise with operational needs and collaborating closely with behavioral health, nursing and care management leadership to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Partner with the chief medical officer to inform clinical strategy and contribute to organizational growth.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex clinical questions from our front-line teams.
- Own and cultivate relationships with health plans, community organizations and other stakeholders, acting as a strategic partner to advance our goals through impactful external engagement.
- Board certification in family or internal medicine as a medical doctor (MD) or doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO), with an active and unrestricted medical license.
- 5+ years of clinical experience, including at least 2 years in leadership or supervisory roles, in safety-net settings.
- Proven ability to develop and implement clinical protocols and policies in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A passion for serving vulnerable populations.
- Experience in telehealth or technology-enabled care delivery models is a plus.
- Comfort in a fast-paced environment that values autonomy and innovation.
