Job Title: Mainframe Application & Testing Specialist

Mainframe Application & Testing Specialist

This role is focused on ensuring the reliability and quality of mainframe applications in mission-critical enterprise systems.

  • Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, Easytrieve, and REXX/CLIST.
  • Write and debug JCL for batch processing and job automation.
  • Perform database operations and validations using DB2, IMS DB, and IDMS.
  • Test online applications running on CICS and IMS DC.
  • Conduct unit, integration, regression, and performance testing.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • z/OS environment: Strong knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, datasets (PS, PDS, VSAM).
  • JCL (Job Control Language): Writing, modifying, and debugging jobs.
  • Programming languages: COBOL (most common for business apps); PL/I, Assembler, RPG, Easytrieve (depending on the system) and REXX/CLIST (for automation).
  • Databases: DB2, IMS DB, IDMS — querying, data validation, and test data setup.
  • Transaction monitors: CICS, IMS DC — testing online applications.
