Senior Therapeutic Coach Specialist

Overview:

As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the START Therapeutic Coaches, providing regular feedback, coaching, and conducting discussions related to performance or other concerns. You will also assign cases to Therapeutic Coaches, assist with scheduling, planning, and clinical plan development, and ensure appropriate frequency of visits and coordination with Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides oversight and supervision of START Therapeutic Coaches through regular check-ins, providing regular feedback, coaching, and conducting discussions related to performance or other concerns.
• Assigns cases to Therapeutic Coaches and assists with scheduling, planning, and clinical plan development related to assigned caseloads.
• Assists Therapeutic Coaches with identifying appropriate strategies and interventions to meet the goals of the service for persons supported.
• Monitors completion of all necessary trainings for staff across assigned region, to ensure compliance with policies, timelines, and other applicable rules or regulations.
• Assists with referrals for coaching, including facilitation of admission planning meetings, screening for enrollment in START coaching services, completion of coaching intake assessments across assigned region(s).
• Collaborates with Coordinators and Clinical Director in all aspects of planning and scheduling related to START Therapeutic Coach utilization.
• Regularly communicates with caregivers and circles of support of persons receiving coaching services to monitor services and progress.
• Ensures that all coaching activities are appropriately documented by staff and completes and maintains all applicable documentation, paperwork, and/or records on a timely basis.
• Accurately enters and ensures Therapeutic Coaches have entered all required data into START Information Reporting System (SIRS) and eVero/Digital Agency, as well as other appropriate systems.
• Communicates with the START clinical team regarding the person's and caregiver's responses to therapeutic coaching to track progress and evaluate strategies to incorporate into the Cross Systems Crisis Prevention and Intervention Plan.
• Participates in recurring consultation, staff, and other meetings with START leadership, clinical team, and START Therapeutic Coaching program.
• Supports regular outreach with community partners to maintain linkages and relationships.
• Facilitates discharge planning meetings and ensures all assessments and data are completed and collected to support successful transition out of therapeutic coaching services.
• Serves as Administrator-on-Call (Available/On Call Supervisor) on a regular, rotating basis with other program leadership and provides coverage participating in 24/7 on-call crisis support, if needed.
• Completes and maintains all necessary trainings based on assigned program/region to ensure compliance with policies, NCSS, and applicable state regulatory agency requirements.
• Participates in the Center for START Services National Network (NCSS), which brings together projects from across North America through an online resource center, conference calls, select study groups, and a meeting at an annual conference and/or other START events, as recommended.
• Complies with all Federal, State, Local, and other relevant regulatory agency requirements, including HIPAA.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

The following qualifications are required:

• Master's degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or other Human Services field.
• At least two years' experience working with the I/DD population and/or behavioral health needs.
• Experience in therapeutic programming for people with challenging behavior, including familiarity with expressive therapies.
• Satisfactory combination of education, experience, and/or training as authorized by START/NCSS and/or appropriate State regulatory agency.
• Successful completion of START Coordinator Certification training within 12 months of appointment.
• Ability to provide on-call coverage for crisis services on a regularly recurring basis.
• Ability to travel regularly across assigned region(s) to conduct in-person coaching sessions and visits.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands of position, including having the physical capacity to implement supports.
• Valid Driver's License required for California and New Jersey assignments; strongly preferred for assignments in New York.
• Ability to work with complex systems and an interest in the population is essential.
• Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Independent and organized with strong communication and writing skills.
• Highly flexible personality type and willingness to take initiative.

Preferred Qualification Requirements:

The following qualifications are preferred:

• Familiarity with START program and services.
• Two or more years' experience supervising others in the implementation of direct service.
• Experience working with individuals with I/DD with cooccurring diagnoses and complex behavioral needs.
• Experience working with families and/or social service providers.
• Verbal and/or written fluency in Spanish highly preferred; fluency in other language(s) may be preferred based on assigned region(s) and caseload.
