Project Control Specialist Role Overview

This is a challenging project control specialist role that requires experience in planning, cost estimation, and project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project-related activities, resources, and schedules to ensure timely completion and profitability.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

• Develops integrated schedules and cost estimates for tenders.
• Creates project schedules and budgets using cost and schedule tools.
• Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures for Project Controls.
• Supports the Project Manager in aligning project budgets with as-sold values in appropriate systems.
• Maintains project schedules and cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
• Analyzes schedule and cost trends, providing forecasted costs and schedules to the project team.
• Identifies and maintains registers of potential schedule and cost risks.
• Monitors actual and committed costs, and checks and controls cost movements against current scope and progress.
• Communicates schedule and cost status/forecasts/risk to functional cost owners and drives/supports risk mitigation.
• Provides internal and external project reporting of project status.
• Collaborates with third parties on project cost and schedules.
• Presents financial data transparently, attends project and management reviews to present cost status.
• Calculates change orders to ensure accurate schedule and cost estimates.
• Updates changes in appropriate systems to ensure costs are aligned to the current situation.
• Aligns with Finance Controllers to ensure reconciliation takes place between approved project financial data and books.
• Supports project close-out and claims processes.
• Provides support to tendering activities.
• Oversees the planning function on the project.
• Ensures quality of project controlling reporting.
• Ensures accuracy of cost budgets, actuals, and forecasting.
• Collaborates with functional cost owners to identify strategies to reduce costs.
• Aligns with established standards (WBS, processes, procedures, tool usage).
• Ensures efficiency and effectiveness of the project cost control team where applicable.

Quality & Lean

• Complies with Quality Procedures, work instructions, and Processes at GSI level and Project Controls Function.
• Reports or resolves any non-conformances in a timely manner.
• Identifies areas of opportunity for standardization/optimization and participates in Kaizen or similar lean events to implement improvements.

Environmental, Health, and Safety

• Demonstrates commitment to safety through participation in formal and informal discussions.
• Adheres to all safe working procedures in accordance with instructions.
• Ensures safety work instructions are complied with.
• Participates in the resolution of safety issues.
• Initiates actions to improve health and safety where needed.

Performance Measurement

• Schedule quality.
• Cost forecasting quality.
• Schedule forecast quality.
• Cost and schedule performance of the project.
• Timeliness of reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
• Deep domain knowledge of planning and use of Primavera.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• English proficiency is mandatory.

Desired Knowledge & Experience:

• 5+ years planning large turnkey projects.
• 2+ projects providing cost controlling on large turnkey projects.
• Lead planner on 2+ turnkey projects.
• Knowledge of cost control function on large complex turnkey projects.
• Knowledge of forensic analysis on large complex turnkey projects.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Established project management skills.
