Telecom Manager Position

The telecom manager role is responsible for overseeing the planning, delivery, and operation of telecom infrastructure for a major sporting event in Brazil.

This includes managing the design and implementation of telecom networks, ensuring timely availability of components and services, and leading the management of telecom infrastructure build and implementation.

The successful candidate will have experience in network design and implementation, with a proven track record of delivering complex telecom projects.

In addition to technical expertise, the candidate must be able to manage an international team of telecom experts and professionals, including remote personnel in other countries/time zones.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Review telecom infrastructure design and ensure all aspects of the deliverables are implemented according to requirements
  • Participate in scope definition, procurement liaison, supplier selection and onboarding of telecom and network suppliers
  • Lead the management of telecom infrastructure build and implementation
  • Oversee the effective and efficient provision of telecom services for FIFA offices, tournaments and events
  • Track progress of telecom infrastructure implementation and report status, issues and risks
  • Manage an international team of telecom experts/ managers
  • Liaise with other projects to clarify requirements and adhere to change management protocol
  • Communicate information to all parties and deliver technical guidance to team members

Requirements:

  • University degree in Information Technology or related field
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in network routing/switching/security/wireless technologies
  • Experience in the sports/event industry
  • Proven track record of delivering complex telecom projects
  • Ability to manage distributed international teams
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge in telecom infrastructure service
  • Broad understanding of telecom infrastructure and information technologies
  • Good procurement and contract management skills
  • Aptitude for consulting, negotiating, communicating and consensus building
  • Excellent people management, verbal and written communication, training and presentation skills
  • Team player willing to work under tight timelines
