We are seeking a skilled system engineer to lead the development of our Linux kernel.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced software engineer to take on a leadership role in our kernel team.

  • Lead the development of our Linux kernel, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with our operating system.
  • Collaborate with senior technical leaders to drive innovation and excellence in our kernel architecture.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Developing and maintaining high-quality kernel code, ensuring it meets the highest standards of reliability and performance.
  2. Leading a team of junior and mid-career engineers, providing guidance and mentorship to help them grow in their roles.
  3. Collaborating with external teams to coordinate adoption and delivery of our kernel.
  4. Working closely with management to track and coordinate initiatives to delivery.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Expert understanding of the C programming language and experience working in a *nix-based operating system kernel and distribution.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated expertise in software packaging formats, with direct Ubuntu/Debian/Snap experience highly regarded.
  • Prior experience developing with git version control system.
  • Ability to travel internationally at least twice a year for company events.
