Job Summary

The Director of Annual and Affinity Giving is a key leadership position responsible for driving philanthropic growth and strategic development at Moravian University. This role oversees the planning, execution, and evaluation of annual giving initiatives, ensuring alignment with the university's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Strategic Annual Giving Plans
    • Design and execute comprehensive annual giving strategies, including giving campaigns, to meet or exceed established goals for unrestricted and restricted annual gifts and alumni participation.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate annual giving, reunion giving, and major gift solicitation strategies, serving as a resource for fundraising staff and volunteers.
    • In partnership with the Engagement Team, create and regularly assess student calling efforts as they relate to annual giving and communication of important fundraising initiatives.
    • Lead and execute a best-in-class, multi-channel direct marketing program utilizing industry best practices, including print, web, social media, phone, and text.
    • Support and oversee the development of high-performing, high-engagement peer solicitor networks.
  • Giving Societies
    • Develop and implement strategies for retention and growth of Main Street Society membership.
    • In partnership with the Engagement Team and with direction from Leadership Annual Giving staff, coordinate and implement strategies for retention and growth of Comenius, Bahnson, and Lark Societies membership, including peer solicitor networks.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
    • In coordination and collaboration with Operations, create and conduct regular, detailed, statistical analysis of annual and affinity giving programs and adjust strategies accordingly. Prepare reports and presentations for key stakeholders.
    • Provide advice and analysis to colleagues, the Assistant Vice President of Development, and the Vice President for Development & Alumni Engagement regarding all annual giving programs, including making presentations to various constituent groups.
  • Prospect, Volunteer, and Staff Management
    • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of assigned annual giving prospects with an emphasis on moving annual donors to the leadership annual and major gift level.
    • Provide direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Annual and Affinity Giving.
    • In direct partnership with Engagement, provide strategic guidance and support to the Alumni Boards and Councils, Student Philanthropy and Class Gift committees, and affinity organizations.
    Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and 5+ years of experience working in higher education fundraising administration or a complex metric-driven operation; or the equivalent. Experience developing and leading volunteer networks with accountability and success metrics. Experience in developing annual giving, marketing, or communications strategies. Technologically adept and curious regarding new applications and systems that will improve effectiveness and efficiency.

Strong ability to prioritize multiple high-level projects with competing interests while building consensus and meeting expectations. Must be an independent decision-maker, energetic, organized, forward-thinking, and creative with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines. Broad knowledge of all communications channels and experience with online media platforms and giving/engagement sites. The position demands strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability and desire to work closely with all constituencies of the University.
