Principal Statistician Role

We are seeking an accomplished Principal Statistician to lead our medical affairs clinical studies. This individual will provide critical support to the study and/or project team on all relevant statistical matters.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in statistics, pharmaceutical experience, and excellent communication skills. They will be responsible for designing clinical studies, setting up and conducting studies, and providing high-quality statistical deliverables.

About the Role

This Principal Statistician position plays a key role in supporting our clinical development activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of advanced statistical concepts and techniques, as well as experience working with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality input into the design of clinical studies, including protocol development and sample size calculation.
  • Accountable for all statistical deliverables related to the study, including statistical analysis plans and data surveillance.
  • Effectively utilizing external groups, such as CROs or data monitoring committees.
  • Working with the programming team to provide definitions, documentation, and review of derived variables.
  • Performing and coordinating statistical analyses according to the Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP).

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A PhD/MS in statistics or a related discipline with at least 5 years of pharmaceutical experience.
  • Good knowledge of pharmaceutical clinical development, late phase, and post-marketing activities.
  • Broad knowledge and good understanding of advanced statistical concepts and techniques.
  • Able to work in a departmental computing environment and perform advanced statistical analyses using SAS and possibly other languages.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Working experience in clinical development, including interaction with external stakeholders.
