Ground Engineering Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Ground Engineering Specialist to assess and analyze ground conditions for various construction projects.
The Ground Engineering Specialist will ensure the stability of areas before construction begins by examining soil, checking underground water flow, and conducting other tests as needed.
- Conducts site inspections to examine soil stability and rock formations at proposed building or structure sites.
- Designs structural foundations and conducts environmental testing to confirm safety and durability.
- Performs laboratory tests on items, studying properties, noting any contaminations or issues, and producing reports for project managers.
- Reviews safety quality standards and ensures adherence to these standards on various projects.
- Inspects foundations, observing drilling activities, and reviewing work plans to guarantee adherence to safety standards.
- Presents possible project risks, explains seismic activities, recommends foundation and excavation strategies, and summarizes individual project progress.
- Perform geostructural analysis and design of waterfront structures, including bulkheads, deep foundations, retaining walls, and flood control structures.
- Interprets field test data (SPT, sCPT, FVST, DMT) and estimates soil engineering properties for design purposes.
- Assigns lab tests and interprets results.
- Estimates deep foundation lateral and axial capacities.
- Designs wall structural components, including wales, tierods, tiebacks, cap beams, etc.
- Develops plans and specifications.
- Helps resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others.
- Calculates construction quantity estimates.
- Collaborates with architects, engineers, scientists, project managers, etc. on multi-discipline projects.
- Performs office-based construction administration, including review of shop drawings and technical submittals.
- Performs construction site inspections and prepares inspection reports.
- Master's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ground engineering and geotechnical analysis.
- Proficiency in software applications such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GeoStudio.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
