Data Engineering Lead

Rain aims to revolutionize financial well-being for employees by providing instant access to wages. Our mission is to eradicate predatory financial products and empower individuals with control over their income.

We are seeking a Data Engineering Lead to join our global team at Rain. This role requires technical leadership, design & architecture of end-to-end data platforms & data product solutions that are highly scalable, performant, secure, and resilient.

The ideal candidate will provide sound judgment, critical thinking, and creativity to deliver customer-focused data solutions that create meaningful business impact. They should be experienced with database performance, tuning, design of data lake solutions, various patterns of data ingestion, processing, and curation.

This role also involves expertise in data streaming, messaging, design and scale pub-sub models, understanding the criticality of data quality, security, and governance practices. The Data Engineering Lead will design solutions with a strategic and long-term focus on code quality, reliability, reusability, maintainability, and dataops.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading teams to deliver on projects and programs around business needs
  • Hiring new team members, retention of existing team members, and removal of team members who are not thriving on the team
  • Mentoring Development team members and supporting their career development
  • Staying abreast of tools, technologies, and industry developments relevant to the work of the team

Required qualifications include 6-8 years of demonstrated experience in Databases, Data Platforms, Apache Kafka/Confluent Kafka platform technologies in an enterprise environment, and strong programming experience in object-oriented languages such as Golang, Java, or Python and SQL/NoSQL database technologies.
