Role Overview

As a Network Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, support, and security of the organization's network communications, which encompass both LANs and WANs. You will identify network issues, determine root causes, and initiate corrective measures. Your role will involve prioritizing actions and identifying additional resources needed based on the severity of service disruptions. You will provide technical analysis to customers to diagnose issues and formulate strategies for service restoration. Collaboration with Telecommunication Engineers, LAN Administrators, and RF staff will be essential for ongoing network activities. You will ensure compliance with security, safety, and environmental regulations while generating reports on network performance, troubleshooting outcomes, and routine maintenance of network components. This position requires the ability to operate within the demands of a global 24x7 high-availability transaction-oriented network, translating business needs into network requirements and working collaboratively with other technical teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, assess, and provide recommendations on infrastructure equipment as a subject matter expert.
  • Load software, customize, and configure systems to optimize resource utilization while auditing the system to minimize vulnerabilities.
  • Install new or rebuild existing servers, configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in line with established standards.
  • Automate the provisioning of servers, services, and end-user devices, granting users access to data repositories and authorization to systems, network applications, and databases.
  • Review work orders and designs, providing critical feedback to stakeholders to accept, adapt, or decline solution development efforts.
  • Troubleshoot networking services and application protocols, guiding other business and technical teams during problem resolution.
  • Implement changes in accordance with change control processes, assisting in the creation and updating of guidelines while supporting team members with escalations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant experience or degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP.
  • Strong knowledge of dynamic routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Proficient in major switching technologies including HSRP, STP, VLANs, and trunking.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as GRE, GET, IP-SEC, Multicast, and QoS.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS and NX-OS operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Cisco ISR and ASR series routers.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Cisco ACI.
  • Familiarity with virtual switching technologies such as Nexus 1000V.
  • Knowledge of F5 GTM/DNS, APM, and WAF.
  • Experience with Cisco SD-WAN.
