Job Purpose

In accordance with the Global Planning Processes and Policies, alongside local Planning Procedures, deliver Material Planning analysis and assistance to the Manufacturing (REMS) Organization.

The Planner will support the REMS Organization by overseeing and accelerating Material Demand, shaping Material Supply Strategy, executing Commodity Planning, and providing Material Analysis, Interpretation & Intervention to uphold Master Production Schedule(s) commitments.

The Planner will also offer guidance and advice to other departments concerning Material Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Engineering Change processes
  • Oversee Master data within SAP
  • Execute MRP manually or through SAP to determine demand, inventory, and supply requirements
  • Conduct Commodity Planning
  • Implement Consumption Based Planning
  • Support Product Standardization and Utilization
  • Plan for externally sourced materials
  • Manage Exceptions and Deviations in the plan for externally sourced materials
  • Control Inventory Levels
  • Maximize inventory turnover
  • Minimize logistics costs by developing an effective distribution strategy
  • Oversee material allocation and escalate conflicts as necessary

The Planner will possess a comprehensive understanding of the activities and equipment related to Materials within their area of responsibility.

Job Description

• Create and assess any new material master extensions or changes in the SAP system for externally procured or subcontracted materials under their jurisdiction.

• Ensure the appropriate use of project versus common stock in line with financial standards and procurement strategies.

• Collaborate in commodity planning with procurement and engineering to establish strategies for each commodity. Implement standardization, stocking, and order quantity initiatives to guarantee timely material availability for site needs, while managing inventory levels and pursuing optimal costs and lead times.

• Work alongside sourcing and procurement teams to define the planning strategy for all materials under their oversight. Engage with buyers to address any potential deviations from the plan.

• Plan for externally procured materials by developing, executing, and analyzing MRP, initiating actions to drive results and manage exceptions.

• Release purchase requisitions to buyers as necessary to facilitate procurement of materials.

• Provide updates on the progress of externally procured materials, keeping Master Schedulers, Project Delivery Planners, and Production Planners informed of any associated risks.

• Implement and execute Consumption Based Planning.

• Ensure effective management of inventory levels based on planned activity levels and product mix, maximizing inventory turnover by reducing excess, optimizing strategic stock, and planning for timely availability.

• Capable of processing Engineering Changes (ECNs) from all plants while ensuring that all information is accurate and complete to reflect SAP/TCE data accurately.

• Maintain the accuracy of plant material masters and bills of materials for materials under their responsibility, aligning with changes issued by engineering by communicating necessary changes to all relevant departments and verifying demand accuracy post-implementation.

• Provide support, guidance, and training to colleagues and other functions related to material management processes.

• Minimize logistics costs by devising a distribution plan to support all sites with demand for the specified materials.

• Control material allocation during supply chain restrictions and escalate conflicts as needed.

You are suited for this role if you possess:

  • A minimum degree in Business Administration, Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 6 to 9 years of relevant experience
  • An understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and processes
  • An appreciation for the Engineering Execution Process (EEP)
  • A practical understanding of Engineering BOMs and related documentation
