About the role of Azure Data Architect:

Job Overview

The Azure Data Architect is a key team member responsible for designing and implementing large-scale data architecture solutions. They are expected to collaborate with engineering peers, technical leads, project managers, product owners, and resource managers to drive innovation and excellence in data engineering.


Main Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop data warehouses and pipelines within Azure
  2. Develop Azure ML model execution pipelines
  3. Educate others on engineering design and development standards
  4. Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and product demonstrations
  5. Write efficient and elegant code that meets business requirements
  6. Author unit tests that adhere to code coverage guidelines
  7. Communicate progress, issues, and risks to stakeholders
  8. Accurately estimate assignments
  9. Create and maintain technical documentation
  10. Mentor less experienced engineers

Required Skills & Competencies
  • 10 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed data architecture for BI and OLTP systems
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in Azure data services
  • Advanced experience with one or more Python parallel processing libraries
  • Advanced experience with one or more Python data analysis libraries
  • Broad multi-tenant data architecture and implementation experience across different data stores, messaging systems, and data processing engines
  • Experience using Azure DevOps and CI/CD as well as Agile tools and processes
