Coffee Quality Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Coffee Quality Technician to join our team at Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the evaluation of coffee raw materials, monitoring green coffee quality, and assisting in raw material sensory evaluation activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reception, registration, and codification of coffee samples into tracking systems and databases.
  • Preparation and setup of samples and rooms for sensory tasting events, including analytical, physical evaluation, dosing, grinding, and brewing of green coffee.
  • Basic physical evaluation of green coffee beans and participation in roasting activities.
  • Building templates, matrices, and sessions for cupping tests and executing panels in a timely manner.
  • Participation in sensory activities, including green coffee evaluation or tasting of other finished good products.
  • Preparation and writing of procedures for internal laboratory activities.
  • Follow-up on findings/results with appropriate parties, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparation and distribution of Quality Inspection Certificates to suppliers.
  • Adherence to safety policies and general housekeeping practices, ensuring the area and its equipment and supplies are kept clean and organized daily or after work has been done.
  • Assistance to the Quality Manager and Specialist with preparation of activities, information, or reporting, as needed.
  • Maintenance of laboratory statistics up to date.
  • Participation in the preparation and organization of extra calibration and training exercises and/or on-site sessions.
  • Calibration and maintenance of lab equipment, such as moisture analyzers, scales, brewers, thermometers, pH meter, etc.
  • Management of samples stocks and other laboratory consumables inventory.
  • Maintenance of communication with other internal sensory sites for exchange of samples and follow-up of traceability information.
  • Preparation of samples for couriers.
  • Maintenance of coffee corner equipment and roasted coffee supply.
  • Participation in other small projects related to continuous improvement and internal initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or similar.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese language required.
  • At least 2 years' experience in coffee, either as a barista, roaster, or lab technician.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating Windows and associated Microsoft Office applications, specifically: Extended skills when using MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Ability to operate analytical lab equipment, such as sample roasters, moisture meters, brewers, grinders.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, with attention to detail, manage time, and to work independently.
  • Ability to perform standardized work with repetitive tasks and motion.
  • Team-oriented problem solver who takes ownership of their work.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is desirable.
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in sensory methodology as SCAA, CQI, or any other locally.
  • Experience with implementation of GLP, QMS, and laboratory certification processes.
  • SAP and/or any other LIMS software knowledge is a plus.
