Senior Cyber Security Strategist
Description:This is a pivotal leadership role in cyber security to manage the team responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving canonical security practices, techniques, tools, systems, and policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Hire and mentor a team of exceptional technical security professionals.
- Develop canonical's SecOps security standards and playbooks.
- Oversight and direction of the SOC architecture and design.
- Analyse and improve canonical's security architecture.
- Evaluate, select, and implement new security tools and practices.
- Identify, contain, and guide the remediation of security threats and cyber attacks.
- Growing presence and thought leadership of canonical SecOps practice.
- Contribution to open-source threat intelligence initiatives.
- Driving threat modelling, table top exercises, and other SecOps practices across engineering, IS, and canonical.
- Development of canonical SecOps learning and development materials.
- Publishing blog posts, whitepapers, and conference presentations.
- Identification, implementation, and tracking of SecOps KPIs.
- Planning and delivery of SecOps work within the framework of canonical's agile engineering practice.
The team will collaborate with our organisational learning and development team to develop playbooks and facilitate SecOps training across canonical. The SecOps team's mission is not only to secure canonical but also contribute to the security of the wider open-source ecosystem.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of mitigating advanced threat actors and nation-state threats. They should have expert technical understanding of SOCs from the ground up, including strategies for logging, firewalls, network segmentation, honeypots, etc. They should be able to define, implement, automate, and measure effective incident response playbooks.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of security architecture and market-leading security tools, experience contributing to and consuming threat intelligence feeds, and experience in security risk management frameworks such as NIST CSF. They should also have an exceptional academic track record and an undergraduate degree in computer science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about their alternative path.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader and manager with excellent business English writing and presentation skills. They will have confidence to report security performance metrics with accountability for accuracy and completeness.
