Operations at Brex

The Operations team at Brex serves as the bridge between our product and customers. Our primary focus is on ensuring customer satisfaction and protecting their businesses, while delivering vital information to our internal teams. We manage Brex's risk exposures and work cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Data, and Engineering to enable efficient scaling and maintain quality.

Business Operations Analytics Lead Role

The Business Operations Analytics team is a critical component of the Operations organization, dedicated to driving excellence in customer experience, protecting the company's bottom line, and enabling business growth through data-driven insights. As a Business Operations Analytics Lead, you will play a key role in shaping our operational strategy by delivering comprehensive analytical solutions that optimize processes, enhance customer satisfaction, and safeguard profitability. You'll partner with teams across credit, fraud, compliance, banking, and growth to identify challenges, develop data-driven solutions, and drive strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Tackle complex problems across various business areas with a high degree of ambiguity based on business needs.
  • Leverage advanced data wrangling techniques to extract, clean, and analyze complex datasets, delivering actionable insights that support cross-functional business needs.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across various departments, providing analytical support and recommendations to enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and business outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize business processes across multiple functions, driving improvements in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall performance.
  • Take full ownership of projects and initiatives, driving them forward proactively, from inception through execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Present data-driven insights, ideas, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, effectively communicating and gaining buy-in for strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Lead and manage high-priority projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic objectives. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project status and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing the executive team's interests and ensuring stakeholder needs are addressed.
  • Coach and mentor existing team members, establishing and setting a higher bar for the standard of excellence.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Operations Management, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics and lead data-driven strategy, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry, with a proven ability to drive strategy.
  • Proven experience in advanced analytics and the ability to identify and solve complex business problems using data-driven insights with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL/Hex/Snowflake, Python).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present insights and gain buy-in from stakeholders at all levels; influence without authority.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, bringing clarity to undefined problems.
  • Experience in owning projects end-to-end, driving initiatives from concept to execution with minimal supervision.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, forecast trends, and contribute to long-term business planning.
  • Strong understanding of business operations and the ability to apply analytical insights.
  • Adaptable to changing business needs, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
