Job Title:
PACU Nursing SpecialistThe Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse provides specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery.
To achieve this goal, the PACU nursing specialist must have a unique blend of clinical knowledge and technical skills.
- Responsibilities include assessing patient recovery, implementing post-operative care plans, administering treatments, collaborating with the surgical team, and coordinating care for discharging or transporting patients.
- Additionally, the nurse must monitor and evaluate patient vital signs, level of consciousness, and response to anesthesia.
- A crucial aspect of this role is administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved post-anesthesia nursing techniques.
- The nurse should maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of recovering patients, ensuring they receive the highest level of care.
- Finally, the PACU nursing specialist must document patient conditions, treatments, and significant incidents and respond to anesthesia and treatments, notifying the care team of significant changes or adverse reactions.
Requirements:
- Experience as a PACU RN, ideally within the last year.
- A valid RN license that complies with state regulations.
- Certification in BLS (AHA/ARC).
- ACLS certification.
