Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

We are seeking a seasoned software engineering leader to spearhead our team in optimizing Ubuntu for cutting-edge hardware.


  • Lead a distributed team of engineers to design and implement optimal Ubuntu integration for IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks, ensuring seamless customer experiences.
  • Engage with commercial partners to deliver exceptional, optimized, first-class Ubuntu experiences on their platforms, driving mutual growth.
  • Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and feedback, unlocking individual potential.
  • Oversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery on agreed project milestones, maintaining stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Ensure an ongoing commitment to strict quality and reliability standards, guaranteeing software excellence.
  • Engage with other teams at Canonical to ensure alignment on product architecture and roadmaps, fostering collaborative environments.

  • Team Management: Develop and motivate a team of software engineers to achieve their full potential, driving team success.

  • Project Delivery: Oversee the timely delivery of project milestones, ensuring commitments to partners and stakeholders are met.
  • Quality and Reliability: Ensure all software solutions meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Requirements:
  • A strong technical background, including experience with Linux distributions and debian packaging, driving technical innovation.
  • Experience managing or leading a team of software engineers, with a proven track record of success.
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies, facilitating adaptability and responsiveness.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral, driving clear and concise communication.
  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent university level) in a technology field, providing a solid foundation for professional growth.
