Probabilistic Safety Assessment Expert

Our company is looking for a Probabilistic Safety Assessment Expert to join our team in supporting the design of new nuclear power plants and the operation and refurbishment of existing CANDU nuclear power plants.

As a Probabilistic Safety Assessment Expert, you will be responsible for conducting probabilistic safety assessments of plant systems, including internal events, shutdown, internal fire, internal flood, and seismic events as well as other external hazards.

You will also be responsible for preparing and/or reviewing work proposals for internal and external clients, developing risk monitors and generation of risk assessments, and coordinating work with all interfaces including project management, as well as a multidisciplinary analysis team.

Requirements
  • A relevant honours degree in Engineering from a recognized institution with over 1 year of experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the CANDU design, including both NSP (especially safety systems) and BOP
  • Broad knowledge of system operation, plant response and understanding of underlying reliability principles
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with the clients in a client/consultant relationship
  • Proficient in CAFTA suite of computer codes, CFAST and RiskSpectrum an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible, i.e., must be able to perform varied work assignments effectively and respond quickly to changing project needs
  • Proven leadership skills, as technical guidance to assist and supervise analysts
