Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our public policy efforts in Latin America.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the region's political landscape and be able to build trust with policymakers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic relationships with government officials, civil society stakeholders, and coalitions to advance Discord's interests in key markets across Latin America;
  • Design and execute a multi-year government advocacy strategy that aligns with the company's business goals and user needs;
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends in online communications services and regulatory developments in the region;
  • Advocate for Discord's position on key legislative and regulatory initiatives that impact users and the business;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compelling narratives and materials for external audiences;
  • Engage in public policy coalitions with peer companies and civil society organizations;
  • Build partnerships with non-profits and civil society organizations to drive impactful outcomes;
  • Manage the company's government affairs consultants and advisors in Latin America.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience at the highest levels of government and/or in strategic public policy advocacy;
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful public policy campaigns in Brazil, with experience in other key markets (Mexico, Argentina, Chile) in the region a plus;
  • Strong understanding of the policymaking process in key markets throughout the region;
  • Commitment to Discord's mission to create a community where everyone can find belonging;
  • Willingness to travel as necessary within the region, with occasional travel to the U.S. required;
  • Bonus Points: Experience working on technology policy initiatives such as online safety, privacy, cybersecurity, or content moderation, especially in the online gaming space; Ability to translate complex technical information into clear narratives for non-technical audiences; Leadership experience with a civil society organization and/or tech company; Success building trust and consensus across stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities.
