Our goal at this fitness company born from gaming is to make more people, more active, more often. We create an at-home training game that connects cyclists and runners with each other around the world. This international user community relies on a distributed system consisting of heterogeneous cluster stacks.

The Challenge

We are constantly modifying our software and improving its core frameworks to accommodate the increased load coming with our steady growth. All changes must happen with no disruption to the service.

Key Responsibilities

The Software Engineering Manager coordinates and maintains the development and delivery plans for our core platform components working with a high-performance technical team distributed between multiple offices.

  • Ensures code quality and speedy delivery
  • Enforces engineering best practices like unit testing, TDD, code readability, and scalability
  • Grows the team through hiring and mentoring junior engineers
  • Jumps in and writes code when needed
Requirements

We seek a candidate with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field
  • Proven software engineering experience working with distributed systems and AWS cloud
  • More than 10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • More than 3 years of relevant management experience
  • Experience leading agile teams using XP and modern agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban

Preferred Qualifications: Enthusiasm for cycling and/or running; Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science or relevant technical field; Experience on database design; Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
