Job Opportunity: Linux Cryptography and Security Specialist

This is a unique chance to utilize your software engineering and cryptography skills to build and maintain the security foundation that enables secure operations and compliance with international information security standards. You will apply your knowledge of applied cryptography, Linux security, and coding to enhance the distribution and collaborate with organizations to develop security hardening benchmarks.

As a member of the Security team, you will work on automation tooling to audit systems for compliance with DISA-STIG and CIS benchmarks. You will interact with stakeholders to identify gaps in frameworks and develop new solutions. In this role, you will influence team culture, facilitate technical delivery, and drive team direction.

  • Collaborate with engineers to achieve and retain security certifications
  • Enhance Linux cryptographic components with required features and functionality
  • Collaborate with external consultants to test and validate kernel and crypto module components
  • Work with partners to develop security hardening benchmarks and audit + remediation automation for Ubuntu
  • Contribute to mainline and upstream projects to land solutions and benefit the community

We are looking for candidates with hands-on experience in low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging, excellent software engineering fundamentals, and demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals + direct experience writing secure code
  • Significant development experience working with open source libraries
  • Excellent verbal and written communications to enable efficient collaboration with internal and external partners

Additional desirable skills include prior experience working with FIPS/Common Criteria certified products, DISA-STIG or CIS benchmarks, Linux Kernel, Python, OVAL (Open Vulnerability Assessment Language), and Ansible.
