About the Job">
  • The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Brazil, coordinating with various teams within the organization.
  • The primary responsibility is to manage and oversee the implementation of projects related to environmental conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable development in Brazil.
  • Key tasks include ensuring timely completion of projects, providing guidance to project management units, developing annual work plans, and conducting monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for liaising with national authorities, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and promoting collaboration among partners.
  • Close coordination with international partners, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations is essential for achieving project objectives.
  • A strong understanding of the regional context, including social, economic, and environmental factors, is required for effective project implementation.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills are necessary to navigate complex project environments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are vital for working with diverse stakeholders at different levels.
  • Collaboration with other offices and technical divisions within FAO is also essential for successful project execution.

Required Skills and Qualifications

">
  • Advanced university degree in Environmental or Social Sciences, preferably with a focus on natural resource management and sustainable development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing projects related to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
  • Proven experience in portfolio management and coordination of programs focused on food, agriculture, biodiversity, forestry, or related areas.
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual, and writing skills, with ability to write bankable project documents and analyze diverse information from various sources.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in securing funding, negotiating, and implementing projects at national, sub-regional, and regional levels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Portuguese, with working knowledge of other languages an asset.
