Job Description

Sustain the company's mission by providing strategic support to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Implement resilient safety strategies, foster a culture of accountability, and assure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Embed health and safety as a core value across all locations globally.
  • Develop and implement global health and safety strategy, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with national/local regulations and company policies.
  • Support the implementation of a resilient safety culture, safety leading indicators, and safety leadership efforts to reduce exposures to risk.
  • Coordinate health and safety audit programs, including corrective action plan tracking (both internal and external).
  • Develop and implement effective safety training programs.
  • Provide technical support to achieve an accident-free workplace while positively impacting profitability and operational excellence.
  • Facilitate sharing of best practices between all global operations.
  • Support established teams to effectively accomplish their mission (safety committees, mill leadership teams, ad-hoc teams, etc.).
  • Support and coordinate industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs.
  • Provide support related to trade association, legislative, and regulatory advocacy initiatives.
  • Manage safety databases in support of governance processes.
  • Foster partnerships with contractors on safety.
  • Travel to sites globally to provide hands-on support as necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or technical discipline.
  • CSP and/or CIH certifications (or other national equivalent professional qualifications) preferred, as well as practical experience.
  • 5+ years hands-on safety experience in a highly regulated manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Expertise in PSM/Process Safety Management is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English. Must be an effective listener.
  • Clear ability to manage change and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Established skill to execute effectively and deliver results.

Location
