Pension Technical Adviser Job Opportunity

Join a team of experts in shaping the future of retirement plans, navigating evolving challenges in DB and DC schemes driven by changing policies, legislation, and market trends.

The Role

  • Collaborate with colleagues in legislative requirements affecting occupational and personal pension arrangements.
  • Assume key responsibilities in ensuring logical structure and ease of access to intranet material.
  • Analyse new legislation, court cases, and changes to practice to identify areas requiring further investigation.
  • Develop summaries of new developments for consultants and clients.
  • Provide telephone, email, and face-to-face support services, prioritising updates.
  • Stay updated on current developments outside specialist areas.
  • Produce WTW publications, internal and external headlines, blog posts, and articles as required.
  • Participate in internal and external seminars.

Key Qualifications:

  • Fascination for detail, ability to get to grips with complex legislative and other requirements.
  • Understanding of legislation and detailed knowledge of DWP, HMRC, TPR, PPF, and other government departments' requirements for occupational, master trust, and personal pension arrangements.
  • Ability to widen knowledge to areas outside the area of specialism, including EU legislative material.
  • Analytical ability when examining new legislation or requirements to determine issues that need clarification.
  • Facility to link separate pieces of information from different sources to produce a composite picture.
  • Research ability, coupled with a desire to find answers in source documents rather than relying on third-party publications.
  • Ability to simplify complex material while remaining accurate.
  • Good drafting skills.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • A clear understanding of knowledge limits and willingness to say 'I don't know.' Do necessary research, seek help, and inform consultant or client that everything is not black and white.
  • Ability to prioritise several conflicting priorities under pressure and take responsibility.
  • Good organisation of self and others.
