Linux Kernel Engineer - Silicon Optimisation

We are seeking a skilled Linux Kernel Engineer to join our team. As a pioneer in the field of open-source software, we strive to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with a globally distributed team to integrate platform support into the Ubuntu Linux kernel for various product ranges. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating regularly and proactively with a globally distributed team to ensure seamless integration of silicon-optimised variants of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
  • Working closely with silicon vendor partners to resolve issues in the kernel reported by partners, customers, and the community at large.
  • Delivering high-quality silicon-optimised variants of the Ubuntu Linux kernel to the world.
  • Improving tooling and automation for the delivery and test of Ubuntu Linux kernels.
  • Submitting, reviewing, and applying kernel patches, working with both internal and external upstream maintainers.

To succeed in this role, you must possess excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as the ability to thrive in a remote work environment. Additionally, you should have a strong grasp of device drivers, BSPs, and other aspects of hardware-level system engineering.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • A well-organised and motivated self-starter able to thrive in a remote work environment.
  • A professional manner with colleagues and the open-source community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Significant programming ability in C.
  • A strong grasp of device drivers, BSPs, and other aspects of hardware-level system engineering.
  • A solid background with git.
  • An understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals.
