Linux Kernel Engineer Opportunity

Canonical, the leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, is seeking a skilled Junior Linux Kernel Engineer to join their globally distributed team.

The ideal candidate will be a well-organized and motivated self-starter with experience in C and/or Rust programming languages. They will also have familiarity with version control practices, preferably with git.

As a Junior Linux Kernel Engineer, you will collaborate with a globally distributed team to diagnose and resolve issues in the kernel reported by customers, the community, and discovered through rigorous testing. You will take personal responsibility for the delivery of various flavors of the Ubuntu Linux kernel and improve tooling and automation for its delivery and test.

The role requires effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work closely with external silicon, cloud, or hardware manufacturer delivery teams on bleeding-edge platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate regularly and proactively with a globally distributed team to resolve kernel-related issues.
  • Work closely with external teams to develop and maintain bleeding-edge platforms.
  • Improve tooling and automation for kernel delivery and test.
  • Take personal responsibility for delivering various flavors of the Ubuntu Linux kernel.
Requirements:
  • Experience in C and/or Rust programming languages.
  • Familiarity with version control practices, preferably with git.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work closely with external teams.
