Job Summary

Connected Manufacturing seeks a detail-oriented Junior Database Administrator to support the design, maintenance, and performance of databases. As an entry-level DBA, you will assist senior team members with day-to-day administration tasks, monitor systems, and troubleshoot database issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing SQL Server databases and SQL Agent jobs
  • Perform backups, integrity checks, and manage indexes
  • Support database performance tuning and basic troubleshooting
  • Help troubleshoot basic database performance issues and escalate complex problems
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks such as index optimization and integrity checks
  • Respond to incidents and service requests related to SQL databases
  • Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Work with developers to ensure efficient SQL queries and structures
  • Participate in deployments, updates, and database migrations
  • Support data security and backup/restore practices
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency in alignment with company standards
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 0-2 years of experience in database support, administration, or related IT role
  • Basic understanding of SQL queries and relational database concepts
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or newer), SSMS, or Azure SQL
  • Basic knowledge of backup and recovery processes
  • Familiarity with cloud database platforms
Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience in AWS RDS, ECS and Azure SQL Database, VM, Managed Instance
  • SQL Database Administration (2016/2019/2022), upgrades, and migrations
  • SSRS and SSIS
  • Troubleshooting database performance and integrity issues
  • Performance tuning and query optimization
  • SQL Maintenance plans (Backups, Integrity checks, etc.)
  • Index Management
  • DBCC Commands, clustering, mirroring/replication, and AlwaysOn configuration
  • Data Warehousing
  • Experience in SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code and design
