Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CICS systems programmer to join our team. As a CICS systems programmer, you will be responsible for building, configuring, and upgrading CICS Transaction Server regions. You will also work on inter-region communication methods such as MRO and ISC, and have experience with installing and supporting vendor products that run within CICS.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of CICS Transaction Server system internals, including storage protection, transaction isolation, and RENTPGM protection. They will also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and have experience with standard MVS tools such as TSO/ISPF, JCL, IBM Utilities, VSAM Utilities, SDSF, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building, configuring, and upgrading CICS Transaction Server regions
  • Working on inter-region communication methods such as MRO and ISC
  • Installing and supporting vendor products that run within CICS
  • Restoring service and problem resolution through troubleshooting and corrective/preventive actions
  • Coordinating activities involving multiple technical resources and groups
Requirements
  • Solid understanding of CICS Transaction Server system internals
  • Experience with inter-region communication methods such as MRO and ISC
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with standard MVS tools such as TSO/ISPF, JCL, IBM Utilities, VSAM Utilities, SDSF, etc.
  • Exposure to security packages (ACF2, RACF, and/or Top Secret)
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery (backup and restore, DR plan creation and maintenance)
  • IBM Assembler language familiarity to review code and dumps and understand exits
