Job Overview

As a seasoned security leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital landscape by driving innovation and excellence in software security.

The AppArmor team's primary responsibility is to develop robust security features and capabilities for AppArmor, the security module protecting all Ubuntu users, by providing mandatory access control to confine programs and restrict their access to system resources.

As a key member of our security engineering leadership team, you will collaborate with other leaders to drive strategic initiatives and promote best practices throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior levels
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members
  • Identify and measure key team health indicators
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes and ensure timely delivery of high-quality results
  • Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers, promoting a positive and professional image
  • Develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices, driving adoption across the organization
  • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives
Requirements and Qualifications
  • An outstanding academic record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM field, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path
  • Proven track record of driving results and exceeding expectations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • A passion for developing and growing people, with a proven track record of success
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results
  • Professional manner interacting with colleagues, partners, and community
  • Proficient in C and have a good understanding of Linux kernel development
  • Experience working with Linux Security Modules
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software and application security
  • Solid experience working in an agile development environment
  • A demonstrated drive for continual learning and professional growth
  • Builds trust, relationships, and confidence through effective communication and collaboration
  • Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments and exceed expectations
