Construction Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Operations Manager to join our team at Ellawayblues. As a leading specialized heavy industrial services business in the US, we are committed to delivering exceptional results to our clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all project-specific cash flow, job margin, labor force management, indirect costs, and overall supervision of project management staff and responsibilities. This is a pivotal role within our organization, and as such, will offer you a great opportunity for rapid career progression.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Mastery of Departmental Performance Metrics: Ensure the department's job margin and gross profit performance are optimized.
  • Annual Budget and Forecast Management: Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and manage the department's annual budget and forecast.
  • Project Progress Meetings: Hold weekly job/project progress status meetings with estimating and project management teams to discuss job margin, existing and emerging issue resolution.
  • Human Resources Management: Manage and coordinate department HR issues with upper management and Corporate HR.
  • Opportunity Analysis: Consult with managers on opportunity analysis (cost/benefit, risk/reward) and high-risk business cases.
  • Leadership Development: Engage in leadership training courses to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Culture and Compliance: Promote and maintain a supportive, respectful, professional, and harassment-free work environment for all department labor and staff employees.

To be successful in this role, you will need a college degree in Business, Organizational Management, Construction Management, Engineering Management, or a related field. Alternatively, five or more years of direct management experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree, dependent on the structure of your work history. Proven experience as a manager of 5 or more office staff plus 20 or more field personnel, personally managed a minimum annual sales of $10M, or a comparable management role is also required. Experience in planning and budgeting with excellent math and analytical abilities are also necessary.
