Employment Counsel - LATAM

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join our dynamic legal team as an Employment Counsel - LATAM. This role will provide strategic legal advice and guidance on all aspects of employment law across the LATAM region, ensuring compliance with local laws and mitigating legal risks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely. Experience working in a fast-paced, global environment is essential, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide high-quality legal advice on employment law matters throughout the LATAM region, including hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, workplace investigations, and employment compliance.
  2. Develop innovative solutions to manage employment-related legal risks and mitigate potential disputes.
  3. Collaborate with HR and Operations teams to develop and implement employment practices, HR policies, and procedures that comply with local and international laws.
  4. Manage employment-related disputes, claims, and litigation across LATAM, including managing outside local counsel and business units as necessary.
  5. Monitor and interpret new and changing employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance and partner with HR and Operations teams to develop strategies.
Qualifications:
  1. Qualified lawyer in Brazil, Colombia, or another jurisdiction in the LATAM region.
  2. 5-8 years of experience in employment law, preferably in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, with experience working at a multinational company across various jurisdictions.
  3. Experience on a broad range of employment law matters, including hiring, employee relations, investigations, terminations, HR policies, employment compliance, and litigation.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical legal advice and creative solutions to complex legal matters.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
