Job Title: Marine Operations and Vessel Manager

Wildlands Conservation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Operations and Vessel Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of our marine vessels, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing logistics and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the marine operations team, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
  2. Develop and implement standard operating procedures for marine operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  3. Manage the maintenance and upkeep of marine vessels, including scheduling repairs and maintenance activities.
  4. Coordinate logistics and transportation activities, including the procurement of goods and services.
  5. Develop and manage budgets for marine operations, ensuring that all expenses are accounted for and reported accurately.
  6. Engage with stakeholders, including donors, project partners, and scientists, to ensure that marine operations are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  1. 9m offshore vessel SAMSA Certificate of Competency (CoC), with night and dive support ratings.
  2. In-date valid STCW certificates.
  3. Experience operating out of Durban and Richards Bay harbours.
  4. Highly responsible, self-motivated, dependable individual with good interpersonal and leadership qualities.
  5. Pilots' exemption licences for Durban and Richards Bay would be an advantage.
  6. Able to engage with partners and stakeholders positively and effectively.
  7. Strong communication, organisational, technical, and problem-solving skills are required.
  8. Proficiency with use of MS Office, including Excel and Word, are required for administration and reporting.
  9. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's licence.
