The role of a Certified School Nurse involves identifying and treating health conditions among students in a school setting. The nurse provides instruction on general wellbeing and disease prevention, assessing students' physical condition, and referring them to appropriate resources as needed for academic success.
Key Responsibilities:- Identify and treat health conditions among students.
- Provide instruction on general wellbeing and disease prevention.
- Assess students' physical condition and refer them to appropriate resources as needed.
- Current nursing license for the state in which the nurse practices.
- Certification or credential in school nursing required.
- One year prior school nursing experience required.
- Pediatric experience preferred.
- Current CPR if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
