Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Underwriting Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in acquiring and underwriting merchants, with a strong understanding of AML, KYC, PCI, and Internal Controls.

The Underwriting Analyst will be responsible for reviewing and completing underwriting and credit analysis of applications, applying sound underwriting judgment and adhering to company policy. This includes reviewing potential and existing merchants from a risk, regulatory, and compliance perspective.

Part of this role involves facilitating the company's growth by scaling internal processes and focusing on continuous optimization and automation.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Ensure adherence to Company and Card Schemes rules and policies.
  2. Follow underwriting standards, instructions, and best practices to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
  3. Perform underwriting and risk assessment, including credit risks, of new and existing customers.
  4. Calculate financial risk exposure and implement relevant risk mitigation measures.
  5. Set up processes, monitor, and execute checks related to merchant onboarding and monitoring.
  6. Evaluate and refine existing procedures to optimize merchant onboarding and monitoring processes.
  7. Provide advice and support to internal stakeholders regarding merchant onboarding questions.
  8. Support periodic reviews and audits.
  9. Engage in continuous process improvement and share best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in acquiring and underwriting merchants.
  • Understanding of AML, KYC, PCI, and Internal Controls.
  • Knowledge of Card Schemes rules and regulations concerning merchant onboarding and monitoring.
  • Solid practical knowledge of credit risk assessment.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, sharing ideas to improve teamwork.
  • Proactive, owning, and willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify potential fraud and compliance issues.
  • Proven skills in risk assessment with appropriate escalation when needed.
