The boot process is one of the most critical components of any operating system, where stability, reliability, and security take precedence.

We seek a skilled software engineer with expertise in Linux systems, hardware architectures, and open-source community to maintain and enhance Ubuntu's bootloader stack, providing fast, reliable, and secure systems on all devices and in the cloud.

  • Collaborate proactively with distributed teams
  • Work with highly technical teams to define and shape the boot architecture of Ubuntu
  • Interact with teams focused on server, desktop, IoT, and clouds
  • Develop high-quality code for new features and contribute upstream
  • Contribute to feature and bug fixes in projects including Grub, shim, u-boot, and associated tools.
Responsibilities
  • Debug issues and produce quality fixes
  • Review code produced by other engineers
  • Collaborate on finding good solutions

This work is critical to system security and reliability.

As a system engineer, you will work on the architecture, design, and development of core components involved in the boot and startup of the Ubuntu Distribution, interacting with the upstream community for projects like Grub, shim, and u-boot.

You will collaborate with team members, mentor less senior engineers, participate in code reviews, and design reviews.
