Job Overview

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and project execution of high-speed rotating machinery and support systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on proprietary equipment for global customers. You will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions that meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing and developing high-speed rotating machinery and support systems;
  • Collaborating with customers to ensure proper design and integration of equipment;
  • Performing safety and operability reviews;
  • Collaborating with various subject areas to finalize equipment designs;
  • Selecting components and materials for turbomachinery and systems;
  • Checking and approving manufacturing drawings;
  • Supporting bid estimate development;
  • Developing standardized product deliverables collaborating with Product Owners;
  • Supporting root cause analyses (RCA) of equipment and field commissioning and start-up activities performed by the Aftermarket Team;
  • Collaborating with the Business Improvement Team to develop new and standardized design engineering tools and work processes for streamlining projects and product development;
  • Driving engineering and material cost reductions and competitiveness across project and product offerings collaborating with stakeholders;
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
  • 3-5 years of experience in turbomachinery or rotating machinery design;
  • Strong interpersonal skills (written, verbal, and presentation);
  • Detail-oriented, goal-oriented, organized, creative, self-motivated, collaborative, and customer-focused;
  • Experience with 2D CAD and 3D modeling and simulation a plus;
  • Advanced FEA capabilities a plus;
  • Rotordynamic analysis capabilities a plus;
  • Fluid film bearing, gas bearing, magnetic bearing, hydrostatic bearing, and rolling element bearing applications and design experience a plus;
  • Equipment start-up and plant integration a plus;
  • Turbine testing, data acquisition, and data evaluation a plus;
  • Programming skills (VB, C#, Python, Matlab, Fortran, or similar languages) a plus.
