**Job Description:**
In this exciting position, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex field exploration programs for a wide range of project types. This includes efficiently communicating field investigation instructions to drilling/subcontractors based on the project geotechnical scope, overseeing engineering services during construction on projects involving shallow and deep foundations, support of excavations and earthwork operations, and preparing field boring/test pit logs on a variety of projects to document subsurface composition and groundwater levels.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Soil Science, Geology or related engineering field; geotechnical engineering concentration preferred. You should also have 0–3 years' experience in geotechnical consulting, construction material inspections or laboratory testing, and be proficient in using mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes. Additionally, you should be familiar with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar software to assist in the production of site plan drawings, and have experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals; knowledge of planning and zoning processes is a plus.

**Physical Demands:**
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This includes standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, using hands to finger, grasp, or feel objects, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, talking and hearing, and using repetitive motions. You will also be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
**Work Environment:**
The field inspections/visits are dictated by construction schedules and could include early morning or late evening timing at the project site. You will be expected to perform approximately 50 to 90 percent of your work week outdoors with the remaining time in the office. Outdoor work frequently includes walking on uneven surfaces in all weather conditions and may have exposure to animals, insects, plants, etc. You will be subject to hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to varying temperatures and chemicals.
