About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Program Manager to join our Tax team within the Finance organization at Amazon Servicos de Varejo do Brasil Ltda. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is shaping the future of tax management in a rapidly changing global market.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tax and accounting principles, as well as extensive experience in program management, technology, and finance. They will be able to bridge across diverse stakeholders, including business lines, information technologies, and finance/accounting/tax disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead large tax initiatives through project initiation, planning, execution, and close-out.
  2. Create and maintain project materials used by a cross-functional core team.
  3. Build workstream project plans and identify workstream dependencies during the planning process; support the resource planning process.
  4. Execute project closeout process and practices, ensuring all project artifacts are finalized and archived as appropriate.
  5. Take the lead role with stakeholders to define, align on, and refine a cross-functional program objectives, deliverables, and resources.
  6. Obtain and drive clarity into requirements coming from multiple impacted functions and demonstrate a solid working knowledge of requirements to project stakeholders and sponsors.
  7. Identify areas of risk to the project scope or timeline, and escalate to program leadership in a timely manner.
  8. Dive deep where needed to resolve blocking issues during project execution, testing, launch, and cutover.
  9. Lead cross-functional teams through workstream retrospectives to help drive improvements into team processes; own and drive process improvements.
  10. Communicate the overall cross-functional program roadmap and periodic status updates to the overall market executive stakeholder body, including Amazon Businesses, Tax, Accounting, Treasury, HR, Legal, Finance Operations, and related technical teams.
  11. Develop and implement enterprise-wide program management tools and standards to support program management core competencies within the team and within broader Finance.
  12. Develop program/team mission, vision, and strategy where needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements.
  • Experience managing accounting technology projects with aggressive schedules.
  • Experience in many of the following disciplines is desired: Brazil Tax and E-Invoicing Legislation, Tax compliance and reporting, external and internal audit, SOX, accounting month end close, controls and reconciliation process improvement, or financial systems integration.
