Job Title: Blood Collection Specialist

The primary responsibility of the Blood Collection Specialist is to perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection in pediatric patients. This critical role requires a high level of precision, care, and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities include preparing patients and their families by explaining procedures clearly and calmly, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and handling of samples. Additionally, the Blood Collection Specialist will monitor for adverse reactions and provide appropriate care when necessary.

Excellent communication skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to empathize with children and their families. A knowledge of pediatric anatomy and a child-centered care approach are also necessary.

Previous experience in pediatric hospitals, clinics, or laboratories is preferred, as well as training in trauma-informed care or emotional support for children.

Fluency in a second language is a plus but not required.

Requirements:

  • Completed a Nursing Technician course with active COREN-SP registration
  • Certification in phlebotomy or equivalent training
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in pediatric sample collection or pediatric nursing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of pediatric anatomy and child-centered care principles
