Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our team and drive innovation in software development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to motivate and develop their team members. They will be responsible for setting clear goals and expectations, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

The successful candidate will also have experience with modern software development practices, including Agile methodologies and version control systems. They will be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and will be able to make informed decisions based on data and analysis.

The position entails:

  • Leading a distributed team of engineers
  • Setting and managing expectations with other engineering teams and senior management
  • Being an advocate of modern software development practices
  • Participating in code and architectural reviews
  • Engaging with broader teams at Canonical and the open source community

What we are looking for in you:

  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject
  • Confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideas without hesitation
  • Track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results
  • Leadership and commitment to skills development and mentorship
  • Passion for technology evidenced by personal projects and initiatives
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills

  • Typescript using modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, Svelte or Vue
