Job Description

Newsela seeks a seasoned Senior Fullstack QA Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our quality assurance group, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality applications and services.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of manual, API, and automated agile testing in the SDLC. They will work closely with talented engineers to build a front-end application utilizing cloud back-end services and other modern technologies.

Scope Of Services
  • Test stories/bugs manually and incrementally build automated tests.
  • Develop and execute test plans supporting production releases.
  • Develop and refactor automated regression test cases using TypeScript in webdriverIO/Playwright Framework.
  • Test internally built LLMs and external AI tools/services.
  • Build test automation from scratch at the services/API layer.
  • Test APIs manually or with automated calls.
  • Collaborate with Developers, product owners, and QA engineers to strategize and execute test plans.
  • Advocate for software quality throughout all development phases.
  • Communicate test status and progress effectively; find, document, and track bugs as needed.
  • Perform all types of software testing in a scrum environment, interacting with product owners, developers, and QA teams.
Required Skills And Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • 7+ years of software testing and quality assurance experience.
  • 2+ years of WebdriverIO/Playwright experience.
  • 4+ years of developing testing frameworks and scripts using TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
  • Hands-on experience building automated scripts in an agile environment.
  • Experience with manual testing, regression, integration, services testing, and database testing.
  • 4+ years working in an Agile Scrum environment.
  • Experience writing and executing manual and automated test cases for websites and mobile apps.
  • Experience testing AI-driven services & LLMs is beneficial but not required.
