Expert Tax Consultant

As a leading expert in tax consulting, you will provide authoritative guidance on local, customs and cross-border tax advice and planning to Businesses and Functions.

  • Support negotiations on tax aspects of deals:
    • Understand commercial strategy to ensure early identification of tax risks and development of ideas for reducing tax costs;
    • Assist with enquiries regarding the tax implications of business transactions and structures;
    • Ensure that Business and tax risks are understood and managed;
    • Review contractual documentation to identify and mitigate tax risks.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver local and cross-border tax advice and planning to Businesses and Functions.
Requirements
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer;
  • Appropriate technical, professional, and business knowledge/experience/qualifications;
  • Bachelor's degree in Law is preferable;
  • Fluency in English; other language skills would be a benefit;
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in tax advisory roles;
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in O&G industry and/or Electric Power sectors in Brazil;
  • Indirect Tax and Special Regimes for the oil and gas industry experience is a plus;
  • Analyze and support legislative changes that impact company’s operation;
  • Able to evaluate tax risks and balance risk with Business objectives, and make recommendations that are objective, practical, technically appropriate, and supportive of the Business;
  • Strong tax technical competence to deal with complex tax structures and concepts;
  • Able to proactively engage and build relationships with other departments;
  • Strong team working, organizational and communication skills;
  • Demonstrate ability to evaluate problems and develop possible solutions (outside the box);
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Capacity of prioritization and escalation as appropriated;
  • A strong commercial focus;
  • Gaining and maintaining the confidence of client, management and operational staff, convincing them of the value of tax considerations in structuring and implementing business transactions;
  • A self-starter with a strong bias for action;
  • Embraces change;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including report writing skills.
