About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to join our SAP Commerce Cloud DevOps team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions to support, operate, and manage our databases in a multi-tenant application.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement database solutions to improve efficiency and performance
  • Provide recommendations and assistance to customers in resolving issues and performance bottlenecks
  • Assist with performance testing and application benchmarking activities
  • Partner with other teams to define product enhancements and issue resolutions
  • Continuously improve existing processes and standards
  • Document technical solutions and improve processes
  • Design and implement automations to reduce manual intervention for database-related activities

Requirements

  • Excellent professional experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer
  • Strong expertise in database management and data maintenance using SQL Server or Azure SQL
  • Proficient in SQL Server/Azure SQL administration, including backup and recovery procedures and database security
  • Strong expertise and proficiency with database performance tuning
  • Experience and knowledge of scripting languages/automation
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Strong experience working on a cloud platform, particularly MS Azure or AWS
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and across a dispersed team
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment
  • Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Extremely customer-oriented and background in customer consulting would be advantageous
  • Experience working in high-availability environments (24*7) would be a bonus
  • Experience with PostgreSQL databases will be considered an asset
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
