Lead Technical Architect

We operate as a high-performance unit within Amazon, offering great flexibility in product and technology direction. As a leader on the team, you will be expected to operate at all levels, diving deep into details while providing strategic inputs for the product. You will be a key player in driving strategic planning, project execution, development of technical talent, and the ongoing operation and improvement of the product.

You will establish and execute the long-term technical road-map and drive continual improvements to the efficiency and flexibility of our product. You will hold the team to an extremely high bar for site performance, scalability and availability.

We have a very flat team structure, and offer an unique opportunity for technical leaders who want to work closely with business stakeholders in defining, designing, building and operating products that solve interesting business problems.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of technical team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
