Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated GIS Specialist to support our agricultural operations by managing spatial data and implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions. This role is critical in mapping, analyzing, and monitoring and planning sustainable land use and natural resources to improve cassava cultivation and environmental sustainability. Generate land-use maps, overlay soil, climate, and hydrological data for suitability analysis, and provide insights for project planning and development.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive GIS database for our cassava farming operations, integrating data on farm boundaries, soil properties, topography, climate, crop yields, and other relevant factors.
- Use GIS technology to support decision-making related to land use planning,infrastructure development, and resource allocation.
- Maintain and update geospatial databases for long-term land management planning.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and land use policies using GIS tools.
- Prepare reports and presentations on GIS-based analyses and findings.
- Provide training and support to our agricultural team on the use of GIS tools and techniques.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience working with GIS software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of geospatial data analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication, visualization, and report-writing skills.
- Strong commitment to sustainable agriculture and technological innovation.
- Excellent communication skills for training and collaboration with diverse teams.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Dutch is a plus. Sranan Tongo is a valuableasset.
