Reporting to the UnionBanc Investment Services (UBIS)
- Institutional Trading Chief Trader, the Senior Proprietary Trader is responsible for performing the brokerage's trading of one or a variety of fixed income securities in the primary and secondary markets in the capacity of broker. In addition, in the capacity of a dealer, the trader will inventory, for the brokerage's proprietary account, one or a variety of fixed income securities. The trader may specialize in specific instruments, i.e. U.S. treasuries, U.S. agencies, Municipals or Mortgage Backed Securities. As a senior member of the trading staff, the trader may be called upon to mentor junior members of the trading team. The trader may be called upon to represent the brokerage at industry and regulatory meetings. Major Responsibilities: 30% Provides access to fixed income securities for the UnionBanc Investment Services Retail and Institutional sales groups. This will be done in mainly on a risk-less principle or principle capacity. 25% May maintain and manage an inventory position within established trading limits for the purpose of providing products to the brokerage's client base as well as earning trading revenues. 20% Maintains contact with other market professionals and broker-dealer firms in order to facilitate access to securities outside the brokerage's inventories as they may suit the brokerage's clients and in order to keep in touch with market trends as they may affect UnionBanc Investment Services Trading. 15% Provides market information to management and the sales group. Maintains accurate records of transactions and inventory positions. May be required to monitor the trading desk's risk position visvis the hedging of inventory. May be required to provide from time to time to mentor junior traders. May provide from time to time technical training-in and/or the marketing-of one or various products to the retail and institutional sales force. May need to represent the brokerage at industry meetings and conferences. 10% Complies with FINRA, SEC, MSRB and other controlling agencies' regulations, along with UBIS and bank policies and procedures.

: Full knowledge of the inter-workings of the fixed income securities market. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with other traders, dealer salespeople, UBIS sales staff and Operations. Excellent telephone, computer and Bloomberg skills. Ability to work in a face paced, highly stressful environment. As may be called upon to execute presentations to the UBIS sales staff, should have excellent presentation skills. Ability to maintain an inventory position and manage the position against a variety of limits, i.e. stop-loss, V R, position, pre-settlement, credit rating, etc.
