**Why is this role crucial for Pogust Goodhead?**

We are currently litigating a substantial number of cases. Our Associates provide support to the Senior Associates and Partners to implement various legal strategies and ensure that we have day-to-day control of our documentation. This role provides the opportunity to help manage some of the high-profile cases we currently oversee.

**EXPERIENCE NEEDED IN EITHER MARITIME LAW OR MINING LAW**

**Requirements**:
**Role responsibilities and core competencies**

To assist the Legal Team in all aspects of civil litigation. This will mainly include:

- Working with the team on large, complex and fast paced contentious cases, including multi-jurisdictional disputes
- Taking initial instructions from partners and senior associates and delegating to trainees and paralegal when appropriate
- Conducting research, drafting and reviewing of documentation
- Managing meetings effectively by setting clear agendas
- Developing and maintaining relationships with external counsel, expert witnesses, financial partners and other external parties
- Supervising Trainees and Paralegals
- Managing legal documentation and demonstrate effective case management
- Assisting the firm in achieving its professional objectives
- Contributing to Pogust Goodhead’s business development, including raising the firm’s profile by partaking in marketing activities and contributing to the firm’s publication

**What you’ll bring to Pogust Goodhead**

**Essential**
- Superior academic background
- NQ- 5PQE or equivalent with the majority of your experience gained in an English litigation practice
- Strong technical skills with experience in English litigation, preferably with experience in environmental protection, data protection, competition or consumer/medical product liability fields
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the clients’ needs and an ability to adopt the best-case strategy
- Excellent knowledge of the English civil procedure rules
- Great attention to detail and accuracy to produce work which is consistently of a high standard
- Very strong organisational skills, file management and time/record keeping
- Confident communicator able to work calmly under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by previous collaborative work with external and internal parties
- A demonstrably flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are met and clients are communicated with efficiently
- Empathy and passion for the clients we represent

**Desirable**
- Experience in pro-bono or social justice / human rights work
