R&E Science and Technology Solution Architect

**Scope/Categories**:
Key Interfaces: Global Research & Engineering and Innovation stakeholders and customers, Product Managers, Engineering leaders, business unit and geographic Business Partners, Agile scrum teams, external delivery partners and software vendors. Travel may include approximately 5-10% of work time.

Role will report to the DTS Manager, Global R&E Science, Technology, and Capabilities, and will not have any direct reports.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Architect and leader of technical aspects for both large and small projects across multiple capabilities in R&D, including Innovation, High Performance Compute (HPC), Portfolio, Project, and Resource Management, Engineering, Product Life Cycle Management, Laboratory Science, and a complex, distributed data architecture. Accountabilities across multiple functional and technical areas (architecture stacks, custom software development, commercial software configuration and integration/API’s) with wide range of complexity.
- Accountable for leading the overall design, including the detailed configuration that incorporates how to structure a segment solution based on R&D requirements/needs, global and regional views, as well as the design of standard compliant software configurations
- Partners as a bridge between the Enterprise Architecture and the solution product team and other stakeholders to make sure that the solution fits within that enterprise context
- Coordinates solution architecture implementations while leading design variances based upon business needs while ensuring artifacts are documented in the enterprise architecture repository
- Manages engagements with vendors as they relate to evaluation, design, and delivery of business capabilities
- Contributes to the evaluation and selection of software product standards
- Leader in industry representation, policy formation, User Groups, and strategic direction
- Mentors others to complete Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives; consults and shares knowledge across the organization, including awareness of industry trends

**Key Qualifications and Experience**s**:

- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of 7 years of continuous experience in software engineering, software development, and solution architecture
- Experience in assessing commercial software packages, including configuration and implementation, especially digital capabilities used in product development, research laboratories, and engineering
- Experience with specific technologies including Microsoft.Net, C# development, Labvantage, Perkin Elmer’s E-Notebook, Microsoft platforms such as Azure, SharePoint (for development), Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, SQL Server, IIS Apache Tomcat, K2, and Oracle.
- Experience in implementation of cross-platform and complex data architectures in a hybrid cloud environment, including API, Interfaces, and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) concepts and practices
- Possess strong leadership skills and exhibit creative thinking to be able to come up with inventive solutions to solve business challenges
- Provide thought leadership while keeping up with industry trends and disseminating information across the organization
- Experience working with blended teams consisting of employees, vendors, and consultants within a globally distributed network
- Strong Technical leadership of Application Development teams and vendors
- Extensive experience collaborating with Enterprise Architects and infrastructure engineers to identify, design, and implement highly complex, end-to-end solutions
- Strong understanding of SDLC processes and methodologies
- Cultivates networking opportunities both within and outside the organization
- Broad range of business and IT experiences; Has achieved technical and/or business certification(s).
- Verbal and written fluency in English is mandatory. Ability to work in a globally-distributed virtual team across cultures and time zones, in a matrix with multiple reporting lines, and may extend outside the K-C organization including suppliers, partners and customers.
