IT Project Manager

**Job Description**:
The Global Tax and Trade team is looking for a customer focused, dynamic, experienced IT Project Manager to manage and deliver Global Tax and Trade Projects. **Our motto is “Work Smart, Have Fun, Make a Difference ”. **We are customer focused and strong believers of Continuous Improvement. We believe in delivering results that do not need explanations.

This is a Hybrid Position within our IT Organization. Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time, but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of 2 to 3 days each week.

**About the General Motors Finance IT - Tax and Trade Management Team**:

- The team is responsible for implementing and supporting the Tax and Trade/Tariff Management Systems globally at General Motors.
- We are responsible for both the innovation and dev-ops of our IT systems, to ensure that all systems required to ensure taxation and cross-border trade are up and running and in compliance with the Tax and Trade Laws.

**About the Project Manager Role**:

- The Project Manager has end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of their assigned IT Innovation Projects that support the Global Tax and Trade Management Program.
- This empowered role includes management of the IT project lifecycle from definition to deployment, made possible through engagement with business SME’s, cross-functional stakeholders, and development teams.
- A successful IT Project Manager is a one-of-a-kind leader that naturally accepts ownership for delivering new and different requests, explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments, while at the same time achieves traditional operational objectives through effective team management, supplier management and a “can-do” approach.

- The successful PM understands that they “own their projects”. There is no such task that the PM is not responsible for.

**Major Duties/ Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for end-to-end delivery of IT solutions and services to the business vertical
- Manages multiple small to medium-size IT projects or a large-scale IT Project from beginning to end
- Defines project scope, charter, goals, and deliverables in support of business goals and works with senior leadership and stakeholders for approvals
- Ensures that projects are completed on time and meet all business and system requirements
- Conducts all project management tasks to meet the schedule, cost, and quality goals
- Develops project plans, schedule, and work breakdown structure for projects
- Maintains accurate project tracking and provides status reports to senior leadership
- Identifies, tracks, and proactively resolves action items, risks, issues, and conflicts
- Work with business to gather requirements, understand the issues, and document the requirements. In some situations, the PM will also perform the role of Senior Business Analyst and work with business to document the requirements. Help business with testing as required. The successful PM understands that the role of the PM is more than just creating and managing a schedule. Learning the business and helping the business with the delivery is the key for success.

- This is a position at the RenCen in Detroit MI or at Sao Caetano do Sul Tech Ctr, Brazil and standard work hours are from 8.00 AM US ET to 5.00 PM US ET

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Fluency in both English and Portuguese Language (written + spoken) is an **absolute must**:

- At least 10 years IT Project Management experience, leveraging different software development methodologies (Waterfall / Agile)
- Degree with a major in information technology or systems, or equivalent combination of certification, degree, and experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Professional (Excel and PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Ability to “connect the dots”
- Ability to develop effective communications targeted for a senior leadership audience
- Ability to maintain composure in high stress/tight deadline situations
- Excellent problem-solving ability and ability to resolve issues under tight time frames
- Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time constraints
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with team members that may be spread out globally
- A strong balance of leadership, business acumen and technical skill
